Student life

Student life at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM) is a vibrant and enriching experience, deeply integrated within a dynamic university health care system. From the outset, students are immersed in a rigorous academic environment, beginning with a comprehensive foundation in anatomical and physiological sciences, including an in-depth lower extremity anatomy course. Beyond the classroom, TUSPM students engage in a variety of clubs and organizations, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. The school's location in Philadelphia offers a rich cultural backdrop, providing ample opportunities for leisure and learning. With access to the Foot and Ankle Institute, students gain hands-on clinical experience, complementing their academic pursuits. The commitment to student success is evident through the support services and internship programs designed to prepare future podiatric physicians for a fulfilling career.

I wanted a career that allowed me to work with my hands and people. I also wanted a career that kept me learning and that I could do medical missions work with. Podiatry checked all the boxes for me. Beyond this, I thought it was amazing to be able to focus early on clinical and surgical classes during my medical education. It’s easy to take pain-free walking, or walking itself, for granted. Now that I’m in my third year of podiatry school, I’ve really grown to appreciate how a short podiatry office visit can make a world of difference to a patient’s day-to-day life. I think that’s an amazing part of our field.
