The Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine is fully integrated within a university health care system and operates its own comprehensive center for podiatric treatment, the Foot and Ankle Institute.
Academic training begins in year one with a solid foundation in the anatomical and physiological sciences, including a lower extremity anatomy course unmatched in depth by any other podiatric medical school. Year two focuses on other biomedical sciences such as microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology.
TUSPM also sponsors a research program in both basic and clinical sciences, in which many students take an active role.
