International Applicants

Requirements for International Medical School Graduates Seeking Advanced Standing:

Applicants who have earned a degree from a World Health Organization (WHO)-recognized international medical school and have passed the USMLE or taken the MCAT are eligible to be considered for advanced standing at TUSPM. Applicants must request consideration for advanced standing at the time of application. Once eligibility is established, the applicant will be reviewed for advanced standing by the admissions committee on a case-by-case basis. Please note additional application procedures.

In addition to requirements for first-year admissions or transfer admissions, international applicants applying to the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine must submit the following.

  1. International transcripts. World Education Service evaluation of grades if attended a foreign school.

  2. TOEFL scores. If you are a non-native English speaker and attended a non-English school.

  3. Test scores.  Official USMLE, MCAT, or DAT scores.

Note: All students granted advanced standing, whether transfers or international medical school graduates, must complete a minimum of the final two years of full-time study at TUSPM to satisfy the requirements for the D.P.M. degree.

International Student and Scholar Services

Living and studying in a foreign country can be challenging. To help make your stay easier, International Student and Scholar Services can assist you with legal documentation, help you fit into the Temple community, and provide you with advisory and counseling services. Students completing their education at a foreign institution should have their course work evaluated by the World Education Services, Josef Silny & Associates, Inc., or Education Credential Evaluations and subsequently submitted to the AACPMAS.
You are considered an international student if you hold, or will need to obtain, a non-immigrant visa, including a student visa (F-1), or an exchange visitor visa (J-1). Please review TUSPM requirements for international applicants.
