Patrick Robinson is the Class President for the TUSPM Class of 2022. Patrick reflected upon his journey into the field of podiatry and said that he was first introduced to medicine by shadowing his mentor, who was a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Patrick worked in his practice and enjoyed the office setting, but also held an interest in surgery. In this same complex as his family doctor was a Podiatrist’s office, and Patrick then shadowed him. Podiatry was the perfect fit, as it was a mixture of office work, seeing patients, and surgery.

At TUSPM, Patrick thinks fondly of his friends and knows that he has found lifelong friendships here at the School. “Temple is diverse community, where students from all walks of life join together to learn, and the friends that I have found here are all different and unique,” said Patrick.

He is also a member of the Spanish Club, ACFAS, and the Forensics Club, as well as the Class President; he maintains a work-life balance with all of these clubs and studies, while also making time for friends and family. Patrick works hard as a coordinator for his class and is also focused on fundraising for the 4th Year Roast, while implanting ideas for fundraising. He takes care of the members of his council and ensures that problems that the council encounters are managed. Patrick has also been a liaison for his class and has been instrumental in coordinating the White Coats for the Class of 2022 during these uncertain times.

Patrick’s proudest accomplishment is his new marriage; he got married on New Year’s Eve of 2019 to his wife Kaddie and is looking forward to celebrating their first anniversary. Patrick and his wife work together and support each other in their jobs and schoolwork. Patrick is looking forward to securing externships and traveling in the future. The plan is to settle down in the Western United States, and both are excited about this new life opportunity.

He also recommends podiatry as a medical field for prospective students to look into, as “Podiatry is the best-kept secret in medicine.” He encourages students to shadow a podiatrist and says that there are a multitude of niches and opportunities for growth in this field.

Being a podiatry student and the Class President while in a pandemic, Patrick has learned the virtue of patience and understanding. He says that everybody’s lives are different, and we all have unique struggles, and that adopting some understanding for each other is important.
