James McGuire, DPM, PT, is a specialist other healthcare providers turn to for wounds that threaten the viability of a limb. For more than 30 years he has been at the forefront of treating diabetic wounds, with a strong record of salvaged limbs and low amputation rates.
Dr. McGuire pioneered the ABCESS approach to wound management, introduced transitional off-loading for wound care, lectures here and abroad on diabetic foot management, and is known globally for innovative wound healing.
Many FDA-approved innovations were used at Temple first thanks to Dr. McGuire. He is currently evaluating hypochlorous acid—a game-changer in wound bioload management that kills most bacteria that inhabit chronic wounds. He is also leading a grant to study a new placental tissue-based graft with active stem cells for the healing of venous leg ulcers.
Dr. McGuire does his best for every patient, every time. He is continually seeking breakthroughs to help patients heal.
