Definition

This course deals with the various types of trauma, soft tissue and osseous which are experienced by the lower extremity.

Purpose

To acquaint the podiatric medical student with the problems of trauma occurring in the lower extremity.

  • An overall view of diagnosis and treatment of trauma occurring in the lower extremity.
  • A knowledge of the common injuries to the lower extremity.
  • Exposure to the management of a multiple trauma patient and the priorities of patient care.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting x-rays involving fractures.
