Year One
First and second years: courses begin and end at various times, with several courses overlapping. This staggered schedule is designed to reduce the number of courses being taken concurrently and to eliminate the high number of final examinations given during the final examination week.

Year Two

The first and second year curriculum emphasizes an academic education in TUSPM's modern laboratories and classrooms.

Year Three
June through November: consists of sessions that include morning clinic in TUSPM's Foot & Ankle Institute and area hospitals, in conjunction with afternoon classes.

    • Podiatric Medicine
    • Diagnosis Clinic
    • Wound Care/Physical Medicine
    • Radiology
    • Satellite Clinics
  • TUSPM Operating Room
  • Philadelpia Veterans Affairs Hospital
  • Anesthesia (area hospitals)

Afternoon Classes:

December through May: six one-month full time blocks as follows:

  • Foot & Ankle Institute - 3 months
    • Podiatric Surgery Clinic
    • Podiatric Orthopedics Clinic
    • Podiatric Medicine Clinic
  • Medicine Rotations - 3 months
    • Internal Medicine Clerkship*
    • AND two selections from below
      • Infectious Diseases Clerkship*
      • Vascular Disease Clerkship*
      • Orthopedic Clerkship*
      • Clinical Neurology Clerkship*

*A structured on-line learning module with exam on these medical topics is completed by students during the respective medical clerkship.

Year Four
TUSPM’s fourth-year clinical education program has been designed to provide optimal cognitive and technical development, while maintaining individual scheduling flexibility. It includes:

  • medicine clerkships at Temple University Health Science Center, area teaching hospitals and our special affiliated hospitals
  • podiatric clerkship programs in hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the United States
  • podiatric medical rotations at the Foot & Ankle Institute
  • private podiatric medical practice setting - podiatric clerkship
  • 10 one-month units and two one-month vacations
    • one Podiatric Office Clerkship
    • medical clerkships* (one of these four to be selected):
      • Infectious Disease
      • Orthopedics
      • Vascular Medicine and Surgery
      • Clinical Neurology
    • TUSPM Foot & Ankle Institute
      • Clinic: Podiatric Surgery

    • five hospital-based podiatric clerkships
