DEFINITION OF THE COURSE
This course deals with the various types of trauma, soft tissue and osseous which are experienced by the lower extremity.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
- An overall view of diagnosis and treatment of trauma occurring in the lower extremity.
- A knowledge of the common injuries to the lower extremity.
- Exposure to the management of a multiple trauma patient and the priorities of patient care.
- Experience in reading and interpreting x-rays involving fractures.
PURPOSE OF THE COURSE IN THE CURRICULUM
To acquaint the podiatric medical student with the problems of trauma occurring in the lower extremity.
