Application Information for Transfer
and Advanced Standing Students |
|
Thank you for your interest in Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. In order to make the transfer process less confusing, we have included these guidelines to help you. If you have any questions at any time, please feel free to call the Admissions Office at our toll-free line, 800-220-FEET.
The deadline for all application materials is May 1 for entry in June of the same year. Once the Office of Admissions has received all materials, there are two processes:
- If you are currently enrolled in the first year of medical school, you will be invited to interview through a regular admissions committee, as though you were going through the initial admissions process. YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT AN AACPMAS APPLICATION. Decisions in the regular admissions process are made within a week of your interview.
- If you have progressed further than the first year of medical school, your materials will be forwarded to the Advanced Standing Committee for review. You will be contacted through the Office of Educational Affairs for an interview.
Please note that in either process, TUSPM reserves the right to deny applications for transfer based on a poor undergraduate or professional school academic record.
TRANSFER STUDENTS FROM OTHER PODIATRIC MEDICAL SCHOOLS SHOULD EXPECT TO LOSE A YEAR BECAUSE OF DIFFERENCES IN CURRICULUM.
TRANSFER STUDENTS FROM NON-PODIATRIC MEDICAL SCHOOLS SHOULD EXPECT TO SPEND FOUR YEARS AT TUSPM. YOU WILL NEED PODIATRIC-SPECIFIC COURSES, WHICH BEGIN IN THE FIRST YEAR CURRICULUM.
Financial aid, housing and registration materials will be sent to you upon your acceptance. You may reach these offices with specific questions through the toll-free number at 800-220-FEET.
The application materials include the following:
1) a completed Transfer/Advance Standing application form
2) official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions attended
3) a letter of good standing from the dean of your current medical college
4) official MCAT/GRE score
5) World Education Service evaluation of grades if foreign school
6) TOEFL scores if non-native English speaker and attended non-English school
