The Gait Study Center has hired a new Research Coordinator, Emilie Zoltick. Emilie recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Biological Anthropology. While reading at UPenn, Emilie conducted research investigating the skeletal remains of a Native Alaskan population for evidence of frostbite. The Gait Study Center is excited to have Emilie among our ranks.

Chief Engineer Benjamin Heilman has modified a JAVA program that will aid in the calculation of MVI. This recent developement further entrenches the Gait Study Center as the Mecca of MVI analysis.

The Gait Study Center has added a new piece of instrumentation, the Multi-Directional Reach Test. Details about this method of data collection can be found by following the above link or by visiting our Facilities page.

Chad D. Moorman, B.S recieved a grant from the American Podiatric Medical Students' Association (APMSA) for his study "Does the Size of a Molded Soccer Shoe Affect the Static Osseous Forefoot Structure and the Dynamic Dorsal and Plantar Pressures?".

In July Dr. Jinsup Song presented a poster entitled "FIRST METATARSAL PHALANGEAL JOINT FLEXIBILITY: A QUANTITATIVE TOOL FOR EVALUATION OF FUNCTIONAL HALLUX LIMITUS" at the EMED Scientific Meeting 2006 (EMS06) in Germany.

In September Benjamin Heilman and Jinsup Song presented an abstract entitled "COMPARISON OF A MULTI-SEGMENT KINEMATIC FOOT SYSTEM TO THE HELEN HAYES SYSTEM FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH PES PLANUS" at the 1st Joint European Society of Movement Analysis for Adults and Children (ESMAC) - The Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS) Meeting (JEGM06) in the Netherlands.
